Panama City Beach woman accused in a fatal domestic dispute could face a life sentence

PANAMA CITY – A Panama City Beach woman accused in a fatal domestic dispute could face a life sentence. The State Attorney’s Office said prosecutors might pursue first-degree murder charges against Tiffany Shere Jones, 29 in connection to the April 14 stabbing death of her 32-year-old boyfriend. Formal charges have not been filed, court records show. A court date is scheduled for Aug. 8.

PC shooting suspect facing drug charges

PANAMA CITY BEACH – The 21 year old PC man who police believe fatally shot an 18-year-old involved in a December armed home invasion at the 79 West Apartments, was arrested on drug charges Wednesday. The Panama City Beach Police Department reported that during their investigation into the shooting, they learned Jared Lyndon Gay, 21, had helped in distributing the narcotics leading up to the fatal armed robbery attempt. Gay was not charged with the shooting seven months ago but now faces multiple drug-related offenses.

Beer Bust

PANAMA CITY BEACH – A 35-year-old Missouri man accused of throwing a beer at a PC police officer appeared in court Monday. According to an affadavit Bay County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kiley A. White Sunday after an officer responding to a noise complaint at a Beachside Drive home says a can of beer came flying at him from the third-floor balcony. White is facing a charge of throwing a deadly missile and is being held on a $2,000 bond, court records show.

PC man found guilty in 2017 narcotics-related case

PANAMA CITY – A PC man captured after a brief police chase in connection to narcotics-related charges in 2017 was found guilty Wednesday. According to official reports, Billy Dean Lay, 50, is accused of running from officers after they spotted him in the area of Grand Lagoon Shores Drive and North Lagoon Drive in possession of methamphetamine. A good samaritan helped police apprehend Lay who was eventually arrested after fleeing a second time.

Ash and debris greet Eastpoint residents

Blackened stumps, a layer of fine ash and piles of debris, greeted residents who were allowed to return Tuesday morning to the 36 properties along Ridge and Wilderness roads devastated by a fast moving wildfire Sunday night. In the aftermath of the blaze stood nothing but the residue from the fire that torched about 820 acres in Eastpoint. Surrounding counties, including Bay County, have been assisting in the relief effort.

Bay County mother facing nearly three years behind bars

PANAMA CITY – A Bay County mother is facing nearly three years behind bars for the death of her child earlier this year. Crystal Ann Cagle, 40, who was drunk when she fell asleep on her 5-month old infant and smothered the child was sentenced Tuesday to 34½ months in prison, in connection to the Jan. 13 incident at Cagle’s Oak Hammock area home.

PANAMA CITY – Bay County is joining nationwide protests against the inhumane treatment of undocumented immigrants. The Families Belong Together March will rally at the Hathaway Bridge in Panama City Saturday against the trump administrations practice of separating undocumented immigrant children from their families at the border. The Bay County event coincides with similar rallies set for Washington, D.C., and across the country onSaturday.

Bay County lends a hand following Eastpoint wildfire

EASTPOINT, Fla. – Surrounding counties, including Bay County, have been assisting in the relief effort, following a wildfire in Eastpoint Monday afternoon. The fast moving blaze gutted dozens of homes, leaving many residents displaced and without, food, or water. Several Eastpoint churches have opened their doors, locals and visitors have offered donations, and the Red Cross has set up a shelter. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office dropped off clothing and food earlier in the day. And a GoFundMe page has been set up by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to raise money for the fire victims.

Car plows into Panama City home

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – No one was injured when a car plowed into a Panama City home Friday afternoon. The Panama City Fire Department says the driver apparently lost control of the car when it ran off the roadway onto the sidewalk and into the side of the house on West 11th Street.
